Eric Sauer: He’s a Machine!

July 1, 2012

Up to this point, we believed that our Equipment List was accurate, but after hearing of the recent accomplishments of Eric Sauer, Salem’s Pre-press Supervisor, we’re thinking it may need an update.  Eric recently competed in the Burn 24-Hour Team Challenge in Wilkesboro, NC.

This is a 24-hour TEAM event, but Eric had a goal Eric Sauerto complete it by HIMSELF!  So for 24 hours, with the help of his pit crew (his supportive wife, Teri), he was off.  A single lap was 7 miles long with the usual twists, turns, hills and valleys that characterize a cross-country course.  The race lasted from noon on Saturday until noon on Sunday, with Eric finishing his 24th lap.  Averaging a lap an hour, he reached his personal goal and also finished 3rd in his class, despite having to true his rear wheel at 2:00am in the morning!

The race statistics are staggering.  Eric rode for 24 hours, completed 24 laps (or 168 miles), burned around 6000 calories and, to our amazement, was still standing!  The only logical conclusion? He must be a machine.

Eric Sauer2Congratulations Eric!
